Does OS matter?

I wanted to ask if certain rats are specified for certain operating systems. would one rat work better for testing on older/newer versions on windows or certain distros of linux? Please let me know.

obviously does. generally windows 7 and windows 10 are what work best (some work best on win 7 some win 10 and like 1% of the time winxp)
