Indexing new RAD image databases

Is there a way to build your own image databases beyond what is provided? I see this is running with additional databases but I can't find any docs on how I would take a large set of images and get them into the right npz format to train with (I assume) scann.

Has anyone been able to do this or are there other libraries/patterns where this is already standardized?
