BEAUti closes during alignment import

Open GideonPisanty opened this issue 6 years ago • 7 comments

Hello

I try to import different alignment files into BEAUti, but no matter which file I choose, the program shuts down immediately. I am using version 2.5.1. Same thing happened with version 2.4.8.

I used the same program a few months ago and there was no problem.

Thanks for your help.

Not sure what is happening, but can you try the following: remove the following BEAST directory C:\Users\<yourname>\BEAST\2.5\BEAST on Windows (where you replace <yourname> with your user name, /Users/<yourname>/Library/Application Support/BEAST/2.5/BEAST on OS X, or ~/.beast/2.5/BEAST on Linux and start BEAST v2.5.1 again?

If that does not help, there may be a problem with parsing the file -- would it be possible to make the alignment available so I can investigate what is going wrong (send to [email protected])?

Thanks for the answer. Deletion of the C:... folder did not change anything. I tried different nexus and fasta alignment files, including ones that have worked in the past, they all caused shutdown. I will try to send one of them when I get to my office.

This may have something to do with the version of Java on your computer. Have you tried to run BEAST/BEAUti with java included (available from www.beast2.org)?

Yes, tried it with the latest version. Shuts down similarly.

I overcame the problem by using a different computer. So I'm good. But this might still be relevant for other users.

Thanks for the feedback.

This is at the end of the error log Gideon sent me:

OpenCL error: Unknown error from file <c:\github\beagle-lib\libhmsbeagle\gpu\gpu
interfaceopencl.cpp>, line 115.

which suggests something is going wrong with OpenCL on the particular computer that was used. Perhaps uninstalling OpenCL and/or un/re-installing BEAGLE will help.

I tried to reinstall BEAGLE but it didn`t change anything. I am not sure how to uninstall OpenCL.
