Impossible to change font variation (bold, italic...)

  1. New project, 4K for sample.
  2. Add Centered title.
  3. Don’t select a specific line.
  4. Change font: the viewer changes live on the fly.
  5. Choose Helvetica Neue.
  6. Change variation (Bold, medium...): It doesn't change live.
  7. Sometimes, it helps if you change the location of the playhead.
  8. But the worst: Once rendered, you can't change variation anymore at all.

I can't reproduce this on my machine using the "Basic Title" - working fine here.

Does Font Book show any corrupt fonts or fonts with issues?

MacBook Pro (16-inch, 2021, Apple M1 Max, 64GB RAM, 8TB SSD), macOS 12.6.6, FCPX 10.6.7

You have to choose the "Centered Title" wish contains two lines.

Ah, apologies... yes, I can now reproduce with the Centered Title.

i get semi-similar behavior. after changing the variation, no change appears in the viewer. i click the menu and try again and after skimming the title it finally updates. nearly never works or changes on my first attempt.

i sometimes notice a difference when i have text elements deselected, vs having a specific element selected in the text inspector.

That's it: the bug occurs when no one text are selected. And yes, sometimes, you have to change the position of the playhead to get the result of the variation.

i am now getting blank menus when hovering over font variations.

update: i am no longer getting blank menus in 10.7.1 with templates that only have a single text element. templates with multiple text elements still have blank menus while hovering over font variations.
