I think this is only happening because it's picking the 1.0 version (lowest res) of gifs, if it picked the 3.0 version it would be perfect.

Also this is unrelated, but it would be nice if downloaded vods would keep the audio at 320kbps or at least 256kbps instead of re-compressing to 128kbps when downloading.

I've had a lot of trouble with this as well, it would be nice to have unicode support.
