What about the QL700?

Open lukesalter opened this issue 1 year ago • 4 comments

It doesn't appear that the QL700 is possible using this package. All of the QL series options I get for the Model class are as follows:

  • QL580N
  • QL710W
  • QL720NW
  • QL800
  • QL810W
  • QL820NWB
  • QL820NWBc
  • QL1100
  • QL1110NWB
  • QL1115NWB

Is the missing QL700 just an oversight? It seems really odd for the 580N and 800 to be possible but the 700 isn't there.

Anyone had any luck getting a 700 working?

Hi @lukesalter ,

Thanks for reaching out about this. The current selection matches what is available in the Brother SDK, the most recent information about all the supported printers in their mobile SDK may be found here: https://support.brother.com/g/s/es/dev/en/mobilesdk/model/index.html?c=eu_ot&lang=en&navi=offall&comple=on&redirect=on

That said, some of the printers share similarities between them so you might be able to print to the QL700 using the QL710 model.

Hope this helps, and don't hesitate to reach out if there is anything else we can help with,

@CodeMinion thanks for getting back to me. I notice the 580N isn't on that list but it's certainly possible (because I've got one!). How have you got the 580 working in the package if it isn't supported by the SDK - is there something similar that can be done for the 700?

Sadly the QL700 doesn't work with any of those options. I've written a 'setup wizard' for our app which loops the models and labels in the package and tries to work out what the current setup is. If any of those were compatible with it then it would have succeeded.

Glad I could @lukesalter.

The 580N was part of the original documentation back when we first developed another_brother. We used their Android SDK v3 which supported the most printers at the time.

On thing to note. As you present the available printers to your user we'd recommend you first confirm that the printer is supported in their platforms. The Brother mobile SDKs (which are used under the hood by another_brother) have historically been developed by two different teams in the company. As a result there isn't a guaranteed 1:1 parity between devices with iOS usually having the smaller set of supported printers. So it is worth confirming that every printer you make available for your users is supported in their device so that their experience is not impacted.
