Can pace start on the old page before start loading the new page

Hello!

I have the problem of server delay response. So I need a way to confirm to the use that he has clicked the link and the page is being loaded. So I want pace.js not just to be shown on the new page. instead I want it to show on the old page just after the user clicks a link or a button.

can that be done using pace. or i need another way.
