Google Sign In crashes on Android 8.0 (documentation issue)

If you follow the SimpleAuth documentation, your app will crash on Android 8.0 with the exception:

java.lang.IllegalStateException: Only fullscreen opaque activities can request orientation

The fix is to omit this from AndroidManifest.xml:

android:screenOrientation="portrait"

This seems to be a well-known Android 8.0 issue.
