Create a Fix to Maintain Discord Taskbar/Tray Icon Visibility

Open stuckydev opened this issue 1 year ago • 1 comments

Is your feature request related to a problem? Please describe. I'm frustrated because the Discord taskbar/tray icon disappears after each app update, and I want it to remain visible when the app is running. This issue occurs because Discord creates a new folder/path with each update, causing Windows to forget the taskbar settings for Discord.

Describe the solution you'd like I would like a fix to be created, ideally a scheduled task, that ensures the Discord tray icon settings are retained after each reboot. This task should automatically set the necessary tray settings, accounting for Discord's frequent updates.

Describe alternatives you've considered I have attempted to solve this using PowerShell and ChatGPT to modify the registry keys, but I couldn't find the correct keys.

Additional context This is a known issue with Discord due to its update mechanism. More information can be found in the Discord support community: Stop changing the working directory/flolder name, it breaks things

Example path for Discord executable: C:\Users\STC\AppData\Local\Discord\app-1.0.9155\Discord.exe

To the Maintainers: Implementing this fix could attract a lot more users to Winutil, considering the huge user base of Discord. It would be incredibly cool if the Winutil team could solve this problem.
