So you didn't have to root it?! Would rooting the phone and installing a pure aosp rom, and then debloating get you even further?
Nope, just enabled ADB and off you go

Hey! I have a script for installing adb systemwide on windows. Have a look and maybe add that to the guide? This makes it easy to install adb and it works everywhere as it adds adb to the path.

Hello Chris, nice article, I would like to know what apps you keep on your dumb phone, especially what workout app and self-employed app you use?
Thanks!
Excellent video and write up (like always)!
I love this idea, and I am going to try it out.
What about PWA's in this launcher?
Are there any minimal launchers that still present progressive web applications?
Giving it a try on my work phone (ancient Nokia 3) - seems to have made it really responsive so far - previously was frustrating as everything took forever. Even if battery life is unchanged then the improvement there is worthwhile.
Did have an excursion with a dumb phone for a year before covid, until i needed to have something that would show tickets to the scanner at the airport. spent that year reading more books while commuting
Hello Chris, just still wondering what your thoughts are on just plain AOSP? I went for a Pixel 3XL in 2020 and got on Graphene OS, still loving it. You did not do that with your Pixel 4a I presume after seeing your vid.
Hey chris, thanks again for a very interesting take on smartphone addiction. Can you share the icon pack you are using?
I've just run it on my Samsung A31, the difference is very noticeable. Thanks again, Chris!
I'm considering to do it on my daily phone, but am hesitant about being able to reverse back. Any instructions on how this could be done?

Factory reset would be enough. In my case, I did a factory reset BEFORE trying this. After the factory reset, updated the apps that came with the device, then I used this tool, and then I installed all my apps. Works incredibly faster and smooth.

I performed a factory reset on s22Ultra, got all the minimal updated, in cmd I see my device after using the adb devices command, but the UAD doesn't see my device (also I had to use the opengl version as the regular one was crashing for me)
Maybe any tips?
After posting my comment, found a tip to launch it from ADB folder - Works
!! Have been considering the following questions since early in your Win-DeBloater: You answered the 1st Q with the article on Android DeBloater. Does this work on Androids with locked bootloaders?
I've used this on my Samsung A31, stock bootloader. You only need to enable ADB.

Thanks! I will give it a try even tho I do not understand how the mentioned goog apps can be deleted without having first gotten by the locked bootloader (VZW on Pixel 4).
Done this on my Oneplus Nord 2T, worked like a charm!
Really, I can't thank you enough, because I got REALLY frustrated with how much my smartphone was present in my life. I couldn't use a dumbphone, because of some apps I'm required to use for work. In the past two weeks, I've gone from 4-5hrs of smartphone screen time to 15 minutes.
Withdrawal, however, is very weird. The first few days, I kept grabbing my smartphone at any quiet moment. It's less now, but sometimes I'm sitting on the toilet just holding my phone :-D
Would this work also on Android Tablets also is there a backup feature in case something goes wrong?
@walix97 no backup feature, but it works on android tablets.
What icon pack do you use?
I really like papirus

I am a pretty staunch iPhone user but I've recently picked up a Pixel 3a XL to install Ubuntu Touch on and found it far too lacking considering the available apps. So I put Android back onto the phone and did this debloat and added Niagara launcher. Much, much nicer now. I'm not sure I'm ready to dump the iPhone yet but the customization is very appealing.
