Computer won’t boot after update
Hello, I am running alienware x51 R2 with a radeon rx 550, everything has been fine but now with the latest update installed, I can’t boot. Here is my error.
I just ran the latest Steam Client beta update and it is only booting to a blinking cursor here.
I can briefly switch ttys, but it will always go back to a black screen with a blinking cursor.
Is there anything I can do to help you figure this out?
Edit: Okay I just realized there was a major OS update going on as well. Guess it did not land well here. I have an rx 6650xt if it matters
I managed to fool around a little in the 1-3s I have until it resets the TTY. I got through to some journalctl output and snapped a few pictures, not sure if it helps:
First error I see is that it cannot run fsck.btrfs on root partition:
Later, it fails to swapon because of a read-only filesystem
Then even later, the rest of the system notices as well:
I could not really pinpoint where it decided to bail out and go readonly, so maybe I missed a crucial part. But this is almost all errors I could find.
my guess is that you're seeing the gamescope issue with polaris AMD GPUs: https://github.com/ValveSoftware/gamescope/issues/1348

Please create a separate issue. Yours is different than OP. It looks like your btrfs filesystem has become corrupted somehow.
Same here installed a steam update did a restart and now it just shows a blank screen with a dash. I'm how ever able to get into tty with alt+f2 and login to the command line.
Deploying 45-1 does not seem to work. Same screen.
Edit: okay did try to run steam with:
steam -clearbeta
Steam -forcesteamupdate
Don't know if that did anything And deployed 45-1 again. It know boots again into steam ui. But this is of course no fix
I'm using a 4th gen i5 and a Rx 470
