Several bugs in the "Temple of Liliana" location

Open Vhati opened this issue 4 months ago • 4 comments

Bug 1 In the foyer of portals to each section, the greeter NPC's dialogue presumes I had freed Liliana. (keep.tmx#L122) I don't remember doing a quest for that (it's possible I forgot). I don't see the word "Liliana" in quests.json.

Bug 2

In the first three sections, enemies that were defeated respawn after exiting to the map and re-entering. In the first section, even collected pickups respawn (like treasure chests), which definitely seems like a bug. As a result, the numerous fast and obstructing enemies become a tedious gauntlet that requires a winning streak to get through (also uninterrupted by crashes or leaving the game for a break), with mostly repetitive rewards (based on the deck contents).

Section 1: bog.tmx Section 2: graveyard.tmx Section 3: forest.tmx

Every other location in Shandalar I've visited was amenable to exiting to the map & saving after each match, then returning to duel remaining enemies with progress intact.

Bug 3

The fourth section (town.tmx) had typical spawning: enemies and pickups stay gone.

However if you kill the mayor to get his key, exit to the map, and re-enter, various areas will have popup messages reporting the mayor isn't there (as if you were still searching for him). I'd caught him in the main road on an earlier re-visit.

Bug 4

Also, the motivation to seek the mayor/key wasn't really established upon entry, just that he was spooked. Exposition would help. I guess it makes sense to highlight a conspicuous key-carrying person in a game that often requires keys (a prior section needed one). I was just unaware what the key was for or what a mayor had to do with anything.

Intro upon first entry:

Ahead of you, you see a rather regal looking mage with a large key hanging from his belt. It seems the mayor is easy enough to identify. However, he yelps in recognition as you approach, and obviously is not interested in staying to chat with you.

The motivation comes only after exploring the end of the map:

Behind this gate, you see the legendary Liliana. She appears to be deep into a ritual of some sort. But to reach her, you need to find the mayor first.

Still, the town's mayor-highlighting was preferable to how the first section (bog) operated. I battled half the map (running a gauntlet) to reach a gate only to discover it was locked, requiring I search/clear the other half of the map to find the key. Then exit, save, re-enter, and duel my way back to the gate again through the respawned enemies.

Bug 5

After defeating Liliana, the greeter in the foyer doesn't update its dialogue acknowledging the win.

Praise

The hidden passage in the 3rd section (forest) was a nice touch.
