Empty "Downloads" folder is created in the home directory when opening the browser

What happened?

Even though the custom folder is set for downloads every time I open Waterfox the deleted default folder reappears in the home directory. If deleted with running Waterfox - reappears in 2-3 minutes. I've searched for it and found similar bug (16 years old) for Firefox, that was checked as "Resolved" even though it is clear it wasn't: https://bugzilla.mozilla.org/show_bug.cgi?id=474718 . In that bug report there's also a line of code that is responsible for it. I haven't tried it on Firefox, as I don't use it, but I assume it is reproducible there, as well. So I've made the bug report for them, too. But I guess you, being independent from them, can fix it even without their help in your own code.
