I'm also having issues with this. Doing a Focus() on the Page about to perform the PopModalAsync operation seems to remedy the problem. At least in some situations.

I'm also facing this issue. Works correct if each platform forces the theme by itself, but by using UserAppTheme in the shared app.cs/xaml some controls will render incorrect.

Is using non-shell more or less abandoned, when it comes to issues? This one is a true pain for us, but we have quit a long way migrating to shell....
