Can we allow external reference to toggle on and off - similar to AB test

In an AB test, we have sample buttons, which toggle, and when the sample is playing, a click again will stop the playing.

Can we implement a similar feature for references - as currently when you click it, you need to go and click on the sample on the stop in the top left corner.
