Autofit Table Dimension

Open pr0927 opened this issue 2 years ago • 3 comments

Describe the feature you'd like

Hello, maybe I'm just unaware, but there does not seem to be a way, as seen in most office suites when editing tables, to autofit to the contents of a given cell, row, or table.

Generally in those tools, one would double-click the barrier line and it would shrink to get as lose to the content, accounting for any border width buffer.

I think this, if it is not present, would be an incredibly-useful/needed item. Right now table construction is extremely unwieldly.

Love this project, looking forward to what's next.

Thanks!

Describe the benefits this would bring to existing BookStack users

This would enable users to make more efficient use of space in designing tables, and for any readers to have a more pleasant/enjoyable reading experience.

It would also remove a lot of the grueling and highly-imprecise manual clicking-and-dragging of border lines and tidy up and standardize formatting.

Can the goal of this request already be achieved via other means?

No.

Have you searched for an existing open/closed issue?

  • [X] I have searched for existing issues and none cover my fundamental request

How long have you been using BookStack?

Maybe I'm not understanding Github, but why does it say "1 task done" at the top - was this stealthily completed or a feature I did not know existed already?

Hi @pr0927,

Maybe I'm not understanding Github, but why does it say "1 task done" at the top - was this stealthily completed or a feature I did not know existed already?

Neither, this just relates to the checked checkbox within your original issue detail (from the form you filled during submission).
