[BUG] Bad Wifi connection in Wifi Mesh
Bug report
Describe the bug
In my Wifi Mesh a Wifi Repeater is only 5m away from the TC001 with 0.98 in my basenent. It would be great if the TC001 would connect to that Wifi Repeater. Unfortunatly it connects to the Wifi Repeater with the least connection in 2. floor. I always get connection breakdowns because of that. In a Mesh all Repeaters Wifis have the same name. So I cannot define the exact Repeater to connect to. Would be great if the Awtrix 3 would only connect to the Repeater with the best connection.
Additional information
- Devices involved:
- Model: Ulanzi Awtrix Smart Pixel Clock 2882 (TC001)
- awtrix3 version: v0.98

Thank you for the quick response.
Shelly also used ESP32.
They implemented AP Roaming with a min connection strength. Maybe a similar solution is somehow possible in Awtrix.
What kind of "WiFi mesh" solution do you use (vendor + model)?
FritzBox with 2 WiFi Repeaters connected via LAN cable.
Repeaters connected with main box via LAN cable? Which exact version do you use? Can you provide more details about the model + revision?
I personally use TP-Link Omada and sometimes use TP-Link Deco and I didn't receive any complaints about them. The so called "WiFi Mesh" means different things across different vendors but devil is in the details and compatibility is not always guaranteed (Mesh is often a marketing term - it must be backed by compliance with specific IEEE standard)
Fritzbox 7530 AX -> Fritz Repeater 1200 AX -> Fritz Repeater 3000 AX
Mesh
All Devices send a 2.4Ghz Wifi with the same name.
