I found out that if you use a USB to HDMI Adapter and set it to main display, it bypasses something and allows you to use the Discrete GPU on a hybrid system.

i tried several "USB C to Xyz" adapters such as one that is a HDMI Out, 3 USB 3.0 and a Card Reader. one that's HDMIx2, Display port & even vga adaptor, as long as you're not using the laptop screen it seems to work!
