@jotsetung - where did you get them printed?

stickermule. they're pretty fast and looking awesome.

@jotsetung @GuangchuangYu - I am wondering of we it wouldn't be possible to do group printing and dispatch at different addresses.

lgatto avatar Mar 03 '17 08:03 lgatto

that would be nice. I know it gets cheaper when you order two or more designs - but I'm afraid sending to different addresses will not be possible. I've also found the Rstudio stickers on stickermule https://www.stickermule.com/user/1070448958/stickers you can order them individually - no idea who get's the money there. We could also resell the stickers there - just I don't want to get any money from it!

We could have a mass spec/proteomics/metabolomics stickers set!

I am not worried about making money, to be honest. But if that was a possibility, we could re-invest it in some cool new designs or t-shirts!

That would be awesome.

I checked, they (stickermule) do not support multiple shipping addresses for a single order. That's unfortunately a no-go.

I might be useful for all contributors to report any orders and possibly how many stickers have been ordered, to have an idea how many are in the wild and gauge interest for that kind of merchandising.

lgatto avatar Mar 08 '17 15:03 lgatto

We could also resell the stickers there

The advantage of this is that we (or anybody) wouldn't need to submit a new image for each order, we would just need to pick the stickers we want. @jotsetung, do you know if there's difference in price if I order the same quantity of ready-made sticker or submit my own design?

Re-ordering is supposed to be cheaper (because the part of evaluating the design/cutting etc is not required). For re-ordering it is also possible to order single stickers - while for a first order you should order at least 50, otherwise the price is too high.

Hi,

Is everyone so far going with stickermule? I got a nice selection of stickers at #bioc2017 and I have now designed my own two stickers, that I am obviously considering to print at some point.

I think it would be useful to detail the process(es) of ordering somewhere in this repository to:

  • facilitate compatibility between stickers printed by different maintainers (by my measurements, current stickers are 5cm x 5cm between opposite angles)
  • help fellow maintainers spot the best deals, possibly different by worldwide region

I am thinking about adding either another section in the main README.md file, or maybe a separate file (e.g., Ordering.md) with a link from the main README.md.

Basically something like:

=== Ordering.md ====

stickermule

  • Go to section Die cut roll labels
  • Select 5cm x 5cm
  • Select quantity
  • Upload artwork
  • Checkout, etc.

Discount sticker printing

For the record, I am looking at UK-based http://www.discountstickerprinting.co.uk/ , they are considerably cheaper (£50 for 2x100 stickers, instead of £89 on stickermule), but come with quite a number of options that could confuse sticker maintainers, here are the options I would pick to try and match my impression of the stickers I got at Bioc2017:

  • Choose a shape: Custom cut
  • Custom size: 50mmx50mm
  • Choose a type: Standard (also available: Clear, Metallic, Textured Paper, Low Tack for windows)
  • Choose your material: polypropylene (also available: paper)
  • Laminate: Yes

However, I'm not entirely sure that's what stickermule is doing. Feedback welcome!

Best, Kevin

I ordered all my stickers so far on stickermule. They have now also printing facilities in Europe, so might eventually become cheaper now for people living outside the US. Let us know how it went with discount sticker.

Thanks for the info. Just to clarify: I haven't ordered yet with discount stickers. I wanted to get an impression from you guys first. I'll keep looking around, but to be fair the stickermule ones are great as they are. I'm a bit nervous about pushing my luck elsewhere.

I also went with stickermule, as the feedback here and from others has always been good. The stickers are of excellent quality too. I also found the overall process easy to follow.

Let us know if you have experience anywhere else.
