No method to crop image

I need to crop an image when using browsershots. For example on this https://services.swpc.noaa.gov/images/ace-mag-swepam-24-hour.gif image I don't want the black borders inserted in my wordpress post. Is there a way to crop images via a method or alternatively run php code in my wordpress shortcode to crop away the black borders?
