Compatible with new M-Macs?

Open 7zeichen opened this issue 2 years ago • 3 comments

Dear developer,

I'm using this app since quite a while, and it worked perfectly on my 2018 MacBook Pro with a HP z32 display.

Now I'm changing to a new MacBook Pro M3 Max and was wondering, if your app supports this system? The app is installed through my backup, and when I'm pressing the keys to change the brightness, I'm seeing the brightness control on my HP screen, but the actual brightness is not changing.

Do you have by any chance a solution for that?

Thank you so much in advance für your help and best wishes, Carsten

Hi Carsten,

I'm glad to hear that you have been using this project for so long. I'm not exactly sure what the problem is with your new M3 MacBook. As you can probably tell, this project has not received any love in a while. I wrote it many years ago and open-sourced it, but didn't have the motivation to improve it very much. Since then many other projects took the novel part of it (the system UI for the display brightness) and integrated it into theirs. I can recommend the project MonitorControl, which has the same functionality as NativeDisplayBrightness plus a lot more if you want. This will most likely work on your new MacBook. Cheers, Benno

Dear Benno,

thank you so much for your quick answer. MonitorControl is exactly what I've been looking for, thanks for recommending! Also thanks again for your app that worked perfectly for me for many years. It's the small things that make a huge difference in everyday life :-)

Cheers, Carsten

HI BENNO

HOW TO DECREASE THE BRIGHTNESS OF MY SAMSUNG M5 MONITOR THAT DOESN'T SUPPORT DDC/CI

[1] - I HAD DECREASED THE BRIGHTNESS OF MY SAMSUNG M5 MONITOR TO THE LOWEST, BY REMOTE OF THE MONITOR THROUGH ITS INBUILT PICTURE SETTINGS . [2] - AND THE MONITOR DOEST NOT SUPPORT DDC/CI SO I CANNOT CONTROL ITS BRIGHTNESS THROUGH ANY APP OR SOFTWARE. [3] - I HAVE TO WORK ON WHITE SCREEN FOR 7 TO 8 HOURS SO IT GIVE SO MUCH STRAIN ON MY EYES .

IF ANY SOLUTION AVAILABLE PLEASE SHARE IT WILL BE GREAT HELP
