Feature Request: Add a setting to control the number of decimals displayed for lat/lon

Open GrazianoCapelli opened this issue 2 years ago • 2 comments

Some users ask to add a setting to control the number of decimals displayed for lat/lon as follows:

Is it possible to control the precision of the lat/long precision display?

For instance, if the display is set to decimal degrees the values are reported to 9 decimal places. I use the readings to record current position and 4 or 5 decimal places which corresponds to the position accuracy that my phone is capable of (somewhere between 1 and 10 m radius from a true location for a single reading depending on how confident I hope to be).

I round off the readings in my head, but if the number of displayed decimals could be controlled, that would be fantastic.

The code to add this setting is relatively simple, but I think that, in order to keep the app simple and with few settings, maybe it could not have a sufficient relevancy to be added.

Anyway, I added the issue to keep track of it. I could have missed some good reasons to add it, in case please point them out here below and I'll be happy to change my mind.

@JLJu I would like to work on this issue if you don't mind. can you also label it for the hackerfest?

@JacobGeoGeek - I added this issue to keep track of this feature request. Unfortunately, as written above, this feature is not so relevant thus we thought to not implement it. We are trying to keep the settings list as short as possible and we must choose carefully which settings to add: we think that this would not be one of them.

Anyway, thank you for your availability.
