Feature request: average speed calculated in specified duration and displayed on main screen

I did a hike a few days ago and I wanted to know how fast I was going to evaluate duration of walk. I could have used a speed value based on a sample of time like avg speed in last minute, or 2. Could we allo for a setting to specify a duration for averaging speed to be then displayed on the main screen?
