Podcasts ordered by Published Date when Created Date is selected

When I create an RSS Feed or Feed Listing menu item and set the Order by field to Created Date, the podcasts are instead ordered by the Published Date. Furthermore, if the "start publishing" field is left blank, the podcast is not displayed at all (or maybe it's being put at the very bottom, but I can't check that far back).

Slightly different problem on the same subject: Feed lists are ordered correctly, but I want to have the Creation Date shown on the page rather than the Published Date. Where can I change that? Thanks.

Seconding @katekleiman issue - created a menu item listing podcasts and ordered by create date, but the date shown is the publish date. I suppose I could adjust the publish dates and use that but would be nice to have the alternate as an option.

It's fixed up in the 3.0 branch, unfortunately I just haven't had a lot of time to get it in release shape lately.
