Cannot install azure-cli on Ubuntu Noble - E: Unable to locate package azure-cli

Describe the bug

I execute the following with one command (same behavior if using option two or even what ubuntu suggests to prioritize MS repository for azure cli)

None of them works as it seems it does not find the package in the repo.

One remark is that https://packages.microsoft.com/repos/azure-cli/dists/noble/main/binary-all/Packages does not return a binary to download as it does for the other versions which makes me think if it is not in the repository

Not sure why this issue would be closed if it's still an issue. It appears that Azure is the only major cloud provider that doesn't support the current version of Ubuntu. awscli and gcloud both work. Microsoft "hearts" Linux indeed... ;)

Rebuilding the lists fixed this for me. I suspect I had some garbage in my sources from earlier attempts.

sudo rm -rf /var/lib/apt/lists/* && sudo apt-get update

So sudo curl -sL https://aka.ms/InstallAzureCLIDeb | sudo bash seems to work fine with noble.

Hi folks - I'm still seeing this on Ubuntu 24.04 but specifically on armhf. Is this package formally supported or expected to be supported there? binary-all dist shows me no binary and there's also not one present for binary-armhf dist. I'm not having this issue with arm64 or x64. Thanks!

azure-cli only support arm64.

We used to have wrong config Architecture: all in build script, which produces all.deb package such as azure-cli_2.45.0-1~jammy_all.deb. The package is not architecture independent, and it only works in amd64.

We fixed the config to Architecture: any in https://github.com/Azure/azure-cli/pull/24180

Although you can install azure-cli's all.deb on armhf, it isn't actually functional.
