Sleep Timer: Won't stop at end of episode

Open mchowning opened this issue 3 years ago • 2 comments

We've had 2 users report that setting the sleep timer to the end of the episode failed to work and instead playback continued with the next episode in the up next queue after a bit of time.

The sleep timer is not working. Specifically, when I try to set a sleep timer to stop at the end of the episode, it continues to play the next podcast in my queue.

For the past month or so, when I've used the sleep timer, the most recently played podcast will restart an hour or two after the sleep timer stops it. Since I use this feature to fall asleep, having the podcast suddenly restart wakes me up and kinda defeats the purpose of using it to help me fall asleep.

In November 2021 we added more logging around what is starting playback in the app, so hopefully we'll be able to identify what is starting playback if this comes up again.

Similar request in #5406523-zen

I love Pocket Casts but I think you've introduced a bug recently... If you have a queue of episodes set to play and a sleep timer is set for longer than the current episode being played then playback stops at the end of the episode instead of continuing into the next one.

So for example, set the timer for 5 mins with 3 mins left of the current file being played and another one queued up. The last 3 mins of the podcast plays then playback stops altogether. 2 mins later, the message comes up that playback has stopped because the sleep timer has activated (or whatever it actually says) but nothing has been playing since the previous file.

Closed this issue since I can't reproduce it anymore. We will keep track on it in case someone reports this again
