Anyway, this may cause mistakes and make it harder to understand what's going on, that is true

Averaging is good for durability, not so much for other stats. It is logical that mixing worse materials with better materials will lower the overall durability, not necessarily the same...

Current swing time is a mess, eg. Adding some wood to the top of the pickaxe can legitimately lower the swing time for no reason.

Well, we can make the swing time less penalizing overall, so you can't really get it above .5 and below .2 without modifiers.

> The old optional slots gave you more damage and durability in exchange for worse swing time. That was the draw. Yes, but they don't give you enough extra durability...

> You could make it additive for those slots in particular That completely ignores weak spots in the tool.

We could re-add fragile modifiers on stone and remove the fragile modifier while encased? Either way I absolutely disagree with making them 50%, this is way too much.

Additive durability doesn't make sense tho, if you mix weak material with strong material you don't get even stronger material.

Did you ever swing a pickaxe vs a piece of concrete on a reinforcing bar? There is, indeed, a difference 😝

Well, there is a difference between a toy pickaxe and one you would use to actually mine stuff XD
