Feature suggestion: Make it more convenient to select. 2mg and hdv images
I'd like to see a more convenient and direct way of selecting 2mg, 2img, and hdv images. Some sort of drag'n'drop directly onto the emulator would be ideal. Perhaps additional 3.5 drive and HDD buttons are needed. Similar to the 2 floppy buttons present now.
Having that would be so much more convenient with archiving and repairing ProDOS disks/images instead of having to repetitively drill down through the GUI.
We started a conversation about this last year (see comments and trivial commits in PR #950) but Real Life (tm) has prevented me from following through.
In principle the first steps were pretty straightforward:
- WM_DDE_EXECUTE and WM_DROPFILES could call a common function
- That would call ImageOpen to analyse the image and decide which card to use
- InsertDisk and HD_Insert could be refactored to have variants which take an ImageInfo*
Unfortunately, I ran into problems. I can't recall the details, sorry - I should've taken notes - but the code paths and requirements for opening floppies and hard disks started to diverge and were difficult to reconcile. It might've been around differences in opening 3.5" vs HD PO files as Tom's comment mentions.
