Arabic keyboard
Hello i need to do these settings for arabic keyboard?
I replaced it with arabic scripts for files
Word completion not working
task parseTextInputFiles(type: com.anysoftkeyboard.tools.generatewordslist.GenerateWordsListTask) { inputFiles new File(project.getProjectDir(), "dictionary/NY_STATE_ASSEMBLY_TRANSCRIPT_20120621.txt"), //Download the archive from https://dumps.wikimedia.org/other/static_html_dumps/current/simple/ new File(project.getProjectDir(), "dictionary/First_English_Civil_War_Wikipedia.htm") outputWordsListFile new File(project.getProjectDir(), "dictionary/words_from_texts.xml") wordCharacters "يوهنملكقفغعظطضصشسزرذدخحجثتبا".toCharArray() additionalInnerCharacters "".toCharArray() locale Locale.forLanguageTag('ar') }
This part is correct
wordCharacters "يوهنملكقفغعظطضصشسزرذدخحجثتبا".toCharArray() additionalInnerCharacters "".toCharArray() locale Locale.forLanguageTag('ar')
@mahirekici are you interested in creating a new Arabic language pack? I can help with that.
YES,
The arabic package you created seems to be incorrect
Yes, I got that feeling as well.
Is there problem with the keyboard or the suggestions? Or both?
@mahirekici any news on this?
This pack is correct.
Writing in arabic with autocorrection :

@menny: No, the keyboard needs improvements. The suggestion works well with Standard Arabic, but not at all with colloquial Arabic (but that's a problem most keyboards have).
The keyboard lacks diacritics (such as the short vowels, like ُ َ ِ ّ or ً ٍ ٌ ْ ). It also lacks the elongation character, which is used to demonstrate a letter in a sentence (compare ه with هـ ـهـ ـه, same letter, different forms). The question mark is the in the wrong direction (it should be ؟, not ?). And, even though I personally don't like or use them, the "Arabic" punctuation marks aren't present (for example, there should be an option to use ، instead of , and ؛ instead of ;)
I also have a gripe in general with soft keyboards of not having a standardized layout, unlike English keyboards for example (or even physical Arabic keyboards). Every keyboard app uses a different arrangement (and available punctuation marks) that makes switching more difficult (see the differences between Gboard and ASK). There, too, should be a theme that displays the alternative long-press character in the key.

Hello :), please find diactrics and the question mark here :

For the Tamdid or Tatwil, I'll try to add it later, such as this one ;)

Thank you for all the remarks, we will try to improve ASK together. Best regards
Thanks Is there a way to make ؟ the default mark instead of ? when on the Arabic layout?
The last one isn't present in my keyboard

Hello @najjara, I'll improve the arabic pack and will add the Unicode Character 'ARABIC TATWEEL' (U+0640) http://www.fileformat.info/info/unicode/char/0640/index.htm
Regards,
@BoFFire Where is the Arabic Pack code, Is it open source?! Can we contribute to it?
Is there anyway that the Arabic keyboard can be made available on F-droid? I'm just a regular user, and I find a couple of major issues with the keyboard.
- The question mark takes too long to access. If it could be switched to default that would make things easier.
- My keyboard has no Arabic numerals (I installed it off of the play store.) This is a pretty big issue, since I can't recommend the keyboard to others without numerals.
- The somewhat random assortment of the characters is also cumbersome. Why was it set up like this as opposed to the standard keyboard format? Not sure if anyone here has the power to fix any of this, but I wanted to give my two cents.
@dwadefan101, I'll try to fix some of it tonight :) and I want you to test the layout. Add me on Twitter @boffire and send me some nudes :) Regards,
Haha I'm gonna pretend read that last line. Anyway, if you can indeed fix up any of this, I'd really appreciate it. Also, doesn't look like the Arabic language pack on the play store has been updated for years, so I'm not sure how process of releasing it will work. Thanks again :)
@najjara @dwadefan101 Rebuilding arabic keyboard here https://github.com/AnySoftKeyboard/LanguagePack/pull/99
Thanks a lot for the effort, but I really have no understanding of programming. If you are able to succeed in updating the Arabic keyboard, and making these adjustments, a lot of people would be able to benefited as a result. Unfortunately, the only experience I have with this stuff is with its interface. @BoFFire
Can anyone tell me why there is no progress with this Arabic keyboard? I know tons of people who would use AnySoftKeyboard rather than non open source alternatives, but the lack of arabic numbers in particular is discouraging. Is it even realistic to expect the app to be updated in google play any time soon?
I am very sorry, but I wasn't able to work on ASK in the last months. By now, unfortunately the contributor BoFFire left Github and closed his pull request, so I'm not able to merge anymore, the code is gone :( The only thing I can try to do is to dig up the ancient version from SVN, which, I belive, is still the version available through Play Store. This is a bit complicated, but I will try to do. Maybe, if we release that version to F-Droid, someone comes along and updates/works on the pack again, like BoFFire did.
Do not worry about it. It's unfortunate to hear that, but anything that you can do to contribute to the project is more than appreciated. Thanks for the response.
Can you add Arabic numerals please?
