Autocorrect does not recognize already typed words when selecting the cursor back into a word or backspacing into a word

Open Superpigdots opened this issue 4 years ago • 6 comments

Steps to reproduce

  1. Type a word and then space
  2. Select the cursor back into a word or backspace into the word
  3. Experience the hell over and over when autocorrect typos correctly spelled words over and over because it doesn't recognize the already typed carachters from before in that word.

Expected behaviour

Actual behaviour

Android OS version: 11 Device manufacturer and model: Samsung Galaxy S10 Lite List of installed add-ons (like languages, or themes): Lean Dark - Large Keys theme. No added languages.

Have you tried going into the settings, then Language -> Tweaks and more -> and then selecting Suggestions Restart? I think I had the same issue as you, and that seemed to fix it for me

I tried that. The option was already checked but I unchecked it and then checked it but the problem persists.

Sorry I couldn't be of more help then... hope you get your issue resolved

Same here. It is not possible to add new words to the dictionary by clicking on them.

What happens ( how to see the bug ): You can see the underline marking words processed by the dictionary 'disappear' after word is finished.

Desired situation ( how it would look when fixed): when cursor is placed in the middle of a word or at the end of it, whole word would 'underline', allowing easy adding new words to the dictionary.

Context: I migrated from Swype, where it was my preferred way to add new words. It was especially handy with Polish language as dictionaries are not seeded with words in all forms ( different endings based on tense/subject). Clicking the root word and adding the ending would add that word with the ending. If you know how I could help and you care to tell me, please do.

Adding a video of the feature not working.

P.S.: it's my first comment and I would like to say hello to the community 👋

Found out that it's not the default behavior, but a bug that sometimes happens. It can be 'fixed' by switching to a different keyboard and back, but not every time. Only 60% sure: It might happen along with no other suggestions showing for the just swiped in word other than the first one.

I'll try to get it on a video to make explaining and debugging easier. Haven't found a way to reproduce yet :(

edit: read the thread again and noticed the tip to restart the autocorrect feature in keyboard settings. I'll try that next time, thanks.
