Another Source of Pockmarks

Open SkiBikePrint opened this issue 11 months ago • 0 comments

I have been battling a pockmark issue for awhile.

I thought it might be wet filament but the problem traveled across multiple spools that had all been baked (ABS, 16 hrs at 70C).

I thought it might be extruder skipping even though I couldn't see or hear any skipping.

While working on another issue I stumbled across a fix (for me) of reducing retraction from 2mm to 0.5mm. Just like that the pock marks that look exactly like the picture in your guide went away on the same test print. The clue for me was that it was on every layer but in random locations. I think the retraction creates a void up in the hotend that takes a little time to work its way to the nozzle outlet and create a micro-void/pockmark in the print.
