Alexa syncing issues with v0.15.1

Open AlexBartles opened this issue 5 months ago • 9 comments

What happened?

When trying to connect a WLED controller/box to Alexa via the emulation built into WLED, it won't work.

To Reproduce Bug

Do a scan for devices in the alexa app or by saying "Alexa, discover devices."

Expected Behavior

It to sync first try or a couple of attempts in.

Install Method

Binary from WLED.me

What version of WLED?

WLED v0.15.1 build 2507300

Which microcontroller/board are you seeing the problem on?

ESP32

Relevant log/trace output

Anything else?

There is a fix I used! I found that if you unplug (as in unplug power from the devices) the ESP's power and the alexa's at the same time, it will sync if you quickly do a scan with the app! Tell me and others if this works below!

I don't think any of the devs is owning alexa devices, so need help to debug.

Anyone following up on this?

I found a fix that seems to work for me.

I turned off the lights (unplugged the power) and unplugged Alexa. Plug both back in, and immediately scan for Other -> Wi-Fi on the Alexa app, and it worked. Detected both my light sets.

I've tried to power cycle several times and try to scan with the Alexa App AND with my Echo devices and they still can't be found.

Hello there. I couldn't believe it when this worked, but low and behold all 8 of my WLED instances showed up after this suggested fix. It's so idiotic. After hours of research and troubleshooting, messing with network settings and..WOW. Sorry, I had to make an account and reply to this fix. Thank you, kind sir. I do not know what brought you to this fix, but I sincerely thank you.

No problem at all! I'm glad you finally found a fix after looking everywhere for one. And yeah, this is a stupid fix. Hope it all goes well for you!

Hello, do i have to re-plug all my echo´s?

Not entirely sure, you may only have to unplug one and it detects the lights. But I did unplug the one in each room and do it that way with the Alexa
