Feature: Ability to link with a land use model review and plan and scope
Transport -> Land use model integration is typically achieved by configuring the transport model to generate a set of network based accessibility metrics. These metrics may include direct OD mode-specific travel times, costs and other impedances, multimodal OD logsums, or destination/mode logsums. The specific metrics used vary by land use model tool and implementation.
Land use -> transport model integration is typically acheived by incorporating geography-based measures of housing units, households, employment by sector, or other measures. Some models may also generate synthetic populations
Key to this feature will be the providing ActivitySim with flexibility in generating and outputting the specific accessibility metrics required, as well as providing ActivitySim with flexibility in accepting new land use and synthetic population inputs
Additional Description
- Purpose: Develop a plan for implementing land use model integration targeted for all agencies
- Review and summarize existing land use model integration designs and implementations in practice
- Key concepts include 1) creating a series of zonal accessibility measures, creating zonal logsum-based measures, 3) aggregating travel model zone data to land use model zones, 4) aggregate or disggregate measures, 5) etc.
- Share and discuss review with PMC
- Recommend and discuss a design for activitysim
- Draft a work program for implementation in later phases
Added from ActivitySim Budget Phase 9.xslx
Comments from prior discussions:
-
Met Council: Are we talking about providing standard tables to be passed back and forth, or about an internal integration?
-
SEMCOG: Is any full intergration of transportation model and landuse model considered under this feature to test the impacts of a tranportation scenario on landuse or vice versa?
-
ARC: this is important in the spirit of a fully integrated transport / land use model, especially in terms of data exchange and feedback loop between models
-
SANDAG: ActivitySim generates TAZ or MAZ-based accessibilities. I think what we need to do is to aggregate TAZ or MAC based accessibilities to land use zones, which are typicallly a lot larger than TAZ and MAZ. I feel this is useful prodedure that benefits many of us.
-
SFCTA: There are a variety of land use models and associated, and a variety of ways to establish linkages from travel model to land use model. I think this task might be best considered from a more generic perspective, perhaps linked with disaggregate logsum generation.
-
MTC: Not sure what this means without specificity. We would prefer number 13: "Disaggregate accessibilities" for this purpose.
