having a Media type is important for a lot of cms

The basic registration process is not a formal standards process; it's just an administrative procedure intended to sanity check new types with the community, and record them in a registry, without much delay.

it is quite easy to do just fill out the template and email it

great idea, however I was immediately confused by the four "registration trees". More to the point, what is the email address I should send this request to? "[email protected]" is for the IEFT tree which does not seem right for OpenVDB. Or have I misunderstood something?
