Feature request: record calls

Hey, great app. I don't know how many people have a need for recording calls, but, er, I'd like it!

Thanks Matt

I'd like it as well!

I think the app should not become any larger in terms of functionality, it is perfectly minimalistic by now. That's exactly the way an app should be: Only providing one functionality and being good at it which is also the approach of iOS apps. If you like to record audio you could use other programs like "Audio Hijack".

It would be nice if it were built-in but it's rare to find.

I use WireTap Studio if you'd like to consider a third-party solution to achieve this.

Hello, there have been several releases of Telephone since this issue was created. Could you please download and run the latest version to confirm this issue still exists.

Sorry for the template response, just trying to clean up and close old issues here.

Yes, this is still an active request: would love the ability to record the call.

Hello, It's been 11 years since the call recording question was asked. Are there any changes? How to record a phone call?

No changes. People ask for this not that often. Some use Audio Hijack for recording.

Recording client-side isn’t the best way to go imho. Call recording takes place on my pbx and I think that’s much easier.

On the one hand, I agree that client-side recording is not a reliable way to store records, but it is very convenient. Especially when you were told an email address or phone number and you didn’t remember it or didn’t write it down. It's just very convenient in daily use of the program. This would be a very handy addition to the program. I tried a bunch of different sip clients and came to the conclusion that this is the best. Fast, simple and convenient. Thanks for it! But still think about the possibility of recording phone calls. This is a cool thing. Thanks =)

No worries, I'm not rejecting this potential improvement. I also think this is useful for some people. Both client- and server-side recording have their uses. I just don't won't to give any false expectations. While I would want to have it in the app one day, I'm always listening to what people ask for. And based on this, I don't have plans to add it in the near future.
